WED JULY 02 2025-theGBJournal| Nigerian stocks climbed higher on Wednesday as bulls surprisingly showed after a bruising Tuesday.
Gains in WAPCO (+3.0%), ZENITHBANK (+1.7%), and INTBREW (+7.9%) stocks led the positive drive.
The benchmark All-Share Index rose by 0.5% to 120,339.90 points while the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled higher at +0.3% and +16.9%, respectively. Market capitalization settled at N76.18 trillion
The total volume of trades increased by 99.1% to 1.05 billion units, valued at N12.17 billion, and exchanged in 21,964 deals.
ROYALEX was the most traded stock by volume at 218.70 million units, while WEMABANK was the most traded stock by value at N1.07 billion.
On sectors, the Insurance (+3.3%), Industrial Goods (+2.2%), and Oil & Gas (+1.5%) indices advanced, while the Consumer Goods (-22.3%) and Banking (-15.2%) indices declined.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (3.9x), as 59 tickers gained relative to 15 losers.
NSLTECH (+10.0%) and THOMASWY (+10.0%) led the gainers, while DEAPCAP (-9.1%) and JOHNHOLT (-5.4%) posted the most significant losses of the day.
The NASD OTC market exchange today, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) gained 0.35% to end the session at 3,389.7points.
Market capitalisation expanded by similar margin of 0.35% settling at N1.98 trillion.
Trading activity surged significantly. Volume traded advanced by 341.48% to 733,635 units, while the value of transactions edged up by 259.08% to N23.47 million.
In addition, total number of trades gained 5.26% to 20 deals executed.
