CALABAR, JULY 28, 2016 – Mr Raymond Dokpesi, an aspirant to the national chairmanship of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described himself as “a bridge builder.”Dokpesi made the statement on Thursday in Calabar, while addressing Cross River delegates to the party’s convention slated for Aug. 17 in Port Harcourt.

He said that if the delegates give him their mandate to lead the PDP, he would reposition and reform the party and return it back to the people.

He added that he has the magic wand to lead PDP to victory in 2019.

He said: “we must all go back to the drawing board. We must not deny the fact that there was impunity in the party before the 2015 elections; Godfatherism and favoritism.

“We must redraw the map of the PDP. We must look back at the visions of our founding fathers.”

Dokpesi assured the delegates of his plans to restore the party’s lost glory through various reforms including ensuring that women and youths take their rightful place in the party.

In her remark, former member of the House of Representatives, Mrs Nkoyo Toyo, described the aspirant as “very qualified and capable” of moving the party forward.

“Some of us are workaholic but Dokpesi is a greater workaholic, I have no doubt that his victory will bring a new lease of life to the party,” she said.

Mr Abubakar Ewa, Chairman, Boki Local Government Council, said that the PDP was fragmented after the 2015 elections.

“Our great party has been severely dislocated, but I see in you the commitment, hard-work and dedication to lead the party. I assure you that we will support you,” he said.
