2019: Okowa, Dankwambo urge aspirants to strengthen party

… Says PDP strong, united In Delta

THUR, AUGUST 30 2018-theG&BJournal-AS the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for primary elections for candidates, Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and his Gombe State counterpart, Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo have urged all aspirants to use the primaries as a means of strengthening the unity of the party.

The two Governors spoke yesterday in Asaba when Dr Dankwambo paid a consultative visit on members of the PDP and unveiled his presidential ambition on the platform of the party.

According to Governor Okowa, “I believe that the spirit we need in our party is for all aspirants to have strong interest in making our party stronger, there must be spirit of give and take.”

“In Delta State, we are very strong as a people and as a party, we are united and we will continue to stay united, God is our strength and the unity of our people is unshakable, we are right on course and we will continue to do the things that will unite us,” he stated, emphasising, “we will continue to stay strong, there is no shaking at all.”

Governor Okowa who lauded the qualities of aspirants for different positions on the platform of the PDP, asserted, “we have listened to Dr Dankwambo, he has spoken as a gentleman, a man of peace who has ensured massive development in Gombe State.”

“He is a man of character; Deltans believe in democracy, we will not force the hands of the people on where to go but, I am confident that they will take the right decision,” the governor added.

Earlier, Governor Dankwambo had congratulated Governor Okowa’s administration for the massive development projects being executed in the state, disclosing that he was in Asaba to tell the people about his aspiration to be the President of the country on the platform of the PDP.

“I am a retired Accountant-General, and in the next few months, I will leave office as Governor after two terms, I am only 52 years; so, I have a lot to offer the country; I know Nigeria, I know the finances of Nigeria; I know how they formulate policies and I know how these policies are implemented and most importantly, I am still very strong and I am telling the people my desire and aspiration to be the President of Nigeria under the PDP,” he said, stating, “we should draw a criteria and assess all of us who are aspiring for the office, if you find me worthy, I am ready to serve, but, if you find somebody who is better than me, I will join the person to serve.”
