MON, APRIL 9 2018-theG&BJOURNAL-Rep. Zakari Mohammed, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Education, has assured that the country’s 2018 budget would be ready by the end of April.

Mohammed said the delay in passing the budget was due to lack of cooperation from some ministers. He said: “When a budget is laid, it is our duty to ask for detailed information because we won’t manufacture figures. That is the problem. But I am sure that by the end of April, we will have a budget.”

He gave the assurance of the budget passage in Ogbomoso at an empowerment programme event hosted by Rep. Segun Ogunwuyi (APC-Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire for his constituents.

The implementation of the 2018 budget would have started in January but has been stalled by political squabbles in the National Assembly and between the members of the NASS and some ministers of the federal republic.

The Senate, earlier last month, also blamed heads of MDAs for the delayed passage of the N8.612 trillion budget. The budget estimate is based on an assumption of oil production of 2.3 million barrels per day with oil price pegged at $45 p/b at an exchange rate of N305/$ and projected on an inflationary rate of 12.42%.
