JANUARY 24, 2017 – MTN Foundation on Monday said it had begun installation of several projects in 200 verified locations across the country, under its ‘What Can We Do Together’ initiative – phase two.

The foundation said that the project was in keeping with its commitment of improving the quality of lives in Nigerian communities.

According to the firm, the installation phase of the intervention comes after verification visits to 1,085 communities that made the shortlist across the country.

“The foundation will provide 20 transformers, 20 boreholes, 80 school furniture and 80 primary health care centres across all six geo-political zones in the country,” the Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Nonny Ugboma, said.

Speaking further on the installations, she said that the prompt commencement of work in the communities was a demonstration of the foundation’s commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities.

“MTN Foundation’s ‘What Can We Do Together’ initiative is a unique project that aims at putting smiles on the faces of individuals. Now that we are in the installation stage, we assure you that the intervention will continue in the same seamless manner that the first phase was executed,” Ugboma said.

“At the MTN Foundation, we are pleased to sustain and improve on the huge success recorded in the first phase. It is heart-warming to see the eagerness with which Nigerians are willing to partner the MTN Foundation in its unrelenting commitment to complement government’s efforts in the development of infrastructure across various communities in the country,” she said.

She added, “In the Phase 1 of the ‘What Can We Do Together’ initiative, 200 projects were successfully delivered in 200 communities across 200 local government areas in the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.

“The project focused on four major areas: transformer, borehole, school furniture and household item donations to select orphanages.”

Meanwhile, for their loyalty, support and patronage, MTN Nigeria says it has celebrated its teeming customers with a special reward and recognition programme tagged, ‘MTN Prestige: Circle of Distinction’.

Speaking during the occasion, the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Richard Iweanoge, stated that the ‘Circle of Distinction’ was introduced to appreciate customers for their support to the brand by enlisting them in an elite group of subscribers.

“MTN Prestige is a proposition designed to welcome our deserving customers into a Circle of Distinction. What it means is that we are appreciating customers that have stayed loyal to the brand since we started operation 16 years ago.

“Although we had recognised them in the past, today, we decided to take things a notch higher with this platform of luxury and style, which we have fittingly called MTN Prestige,” he said.
