Alhaji Aliyu Tola, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Adamawa, on Thursday said that no fewer than 1.5 million children across the state would participate in the 2016 Children’s Day.

Tola disclosed this at a news conference in Yola on Thursday when he unveiled the Ministry’s preparation for the celebration.

The Children’s Day celebration that started in 1963 is usually celebrated annually on May 27 in the country.

Tola said that the 2016 celebration would be special because of the participation of all the 21 local government areas of the state.

The commissioner explained that Nigeria was a signatory to all conventions promoting the Rights and Welfare of Children.

He said that the theme for this year’s celebration is, “Protect the Rights of the Child in the face of Violence and Insecurity. ”

Tola appealed to parents and all heads of schools and stakeholders to join the ministry in celebrating the Day.
