BENUE, FEBRUARY 4, 2017 – Former Senate President and senator representing Benue South senatorial district, David Alechenu Mark may sue Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom over ownership of constituency projects.
Former Special Assitant to the former Senate President on Media, Mr Friday Adakole Elijah who gave the indication said this following publication of Governor Ortoms list of achievements by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase in which some of Senator Mark’s constituency projects were mentioned.
The projects include the Umogidi- Iwili-Opaha-Obinda-Odugbo, Ebugodo and Oshigbudu-Ogwule rural electrification projects to mention but a few.
Mr Elijah said if Governor Ortom failed to retract claims to the projects, it will force his former boss to seek legal redress.
“This is a fabrication of fallacy. The Umogidi- Iwili-Opaha-Obinda-Odugbo and Ebugodo rural electrification projects were Senator Mark’s constituency projects. It predates Ortom’s government.
“So also, is the Oshigbudu-Ogwule rural electrification project. See the 2012 federal budget. It is also Senator Mark constituency project. Your item number 3 & 4 are still our projects. Number 4 is called Ipega -Orokam.
“Alex Agada who was DM Chief Security Officer gave me the name of that community and I included it. I personally supervised it severally. (See our magazine David Mark delivering on promises published 2014. All these projects are there. You can confirm this from the village head, Chief Simon Ochai).
“Also, number 5, Ikikla in Agadagba is our project. Ask Col. Iduh Enenche (rtd) or any body from that community. Your numbers 6,7,8 are all our projects. Hon. Samson okwu and others gave me this names and I included them. They predates this government of yours. Find out from the members of the communities.
“Up till now, these projects remains FG projects attracted to these communities as constituency projects of the Distinguished Senator Mark”. Mr Elijah said.
Responding, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ortom agreed that the projects were initiated by Senator Mark however were completed by Governor Ortom hence his laying claim to them.
